Oppose Government Mandated Pharmacy Closures

Oppose SB 2040

Tennessee legislators are considering SB 2040, a proposal that would undermine President Trump’s progress to deliver lower prescription drug costs for American families and seniors in Tennessee, by dramatically reducing their options to access medications where they choose.

The president has negotiated deals with major pharmaceutical manufacturers to bring American drug prices in line with what other developed nations pay. He launched TrumpRx, a platform for Americans to directly buy medications at dramatically reduced prices. He signed into law sweeping reform of pharmacy benefit managers, requiring transparency and accountability. This is real progress — for working Americans, for working Tennessee families and seniors, for people on a fixed income, for anyone who has ever had to choose between filling a prescription and paying rent.

SB 2040 would throw a huge wrench in that progress here in Tennessee.

Tennessee Lawmakers Must Oppose SB 2040.

SB 2040 would use the heavy hand of government to force the closure of hundreds of pharmacies across the state.

SB 2040 would shutter pharmacies that deliver medicine in the mail to homes, including for veterans and seniors who can’t drive.

SB 2040 would cut off TrumpRx from these pharmacies that deliver medicine by mail — that the platform relies on to reach Tennessee patients.

SB 2040 would eliminate thousands of jobs in Tennessee, OVERNIGHT!

SB 2040 would leave more than a million Tennessee patients scrambling to find another pharmacy — some of whom may be many miles from the next closest option.

Tennessee Voters Oppose SB 2040

A recent poll of Tennessee GOP primary voters on issues facing the state found overwhelming support for TrumpRx, and opposition to SB 2040 that wound undermine the rollout of TrumpRx in the state.

80%

of Tennessee GOP primary voters support TrumpRx.

60%

are less likely to support a candidate for governor who backs legislation that would undermine TrumpRx.

53%

“would vote their state legislator OUT over it.”

16%

“Legislators who back SB2040 are walking straight into a political buzzsaw of their own making.”

Say NO to SB 2040

The Tennessee legislature should not pass a government mandate that threatens critical pharmacy access for more than a million of Tennessee’s citizens — and that would undermine President Trump’s leadership to make prescription drugs more affordable.

Urge your legislator to vote NO on SB 2040.
