Oppose HB 4548

Lawmakers are considering HB 4548 – an unfunded government mandate that would add a $10.49 tax on prescriptions filled in Illinois. Illinois leaders must reject this misguided bill that would dramatically increase health care costs for hardworking Illinois families, employers, and unions.

Lawmakers Need To Oppose HB 4548

Too many Illinois patients already struggle to afford their prescription drugs. HB 4548 would add a $10.49 tax on prescriptions filled in the state – further burdening patients with an unnecessary government-mandated prescription drug tax.

Small businesses, workers, and their families rely on affordable health care plan options. HB 4548 would increase costs by banning certain lower-cost pharmacy options – making it harder for them to grow, compete, and offer high-quality, affordable health care benefits.

Communities across Illinois rely on home delivery as a convenient, affordable way to get their prescriptions. HB 4548 takes choices away from patients by barring their employers from covering certain pharmacies, such as those that offer home delivery of prescriptions at a lower cost.

Say NO to the $10 Tax

Help stop the $10.49 prescription drug tax – and prevent millions of dollars in increased health care costs for Illinois employers, unions, taxpayers, and patients.

Illinois businesses and unions should be able to deliver health care coverage and Illinois residents should be able to afford their prescription drugs. Lawmakers should NOT pass HB 4548 which would take away choices and hike health care costs.
